According to letter written to Lucy Mcmillen in April 17, 1950
from E. Benjamin Ray, "This Benjamin Ray, who was my
great-great grandfather assisted in establishing American
Independence while acting in teh capacity of a soldier in the
American Army as Ensign, Lieutenant and Adjutant. ( I have his
complete record of service in case you want it). He served
various periods from 1776 to 1782.
